Types of Accident Injuries

If you have recently been in a car accident, you may have incurred injuries in different types. These injuries include bruises, cuts, and pulled muscles, as well as crushed bones. Many of these injuries require medical treatment, and they can result in secondary infections and even surgical site pain. People often suffer psychological injuries as a result of car accidents as well. There are also legal ramifications of sustaining these injuries. The at-fault driver is responsible for any injuries sustained.

Among the most common types of accident injuries are ribs, shin bones, collar bones, pelvis, wrists, and femurs. Depending on the severity of the accident, these injuries can range from minor bruises to more serious internal injuries that require stitches. Soft tissue injuries, such as whiplash, are often caused by car accidents and involve the soft tissues of the body. While you may be able to treat many of these injuries on your own, it’s still best to seek medical attention to avoid unnecessary complications.

Internal injuries can include broken ribs or other internal organs. Broken ribs require extensive medical attention because they can result in life-threatening damage. Broken ribs can puncture the lungs, resulting in oxygen deprivation. A ruptured spleen can result in severe illness or death. Often, these injuries will take days or even weeks to show symptoms. In addition, a fractured lung can lead to a ruptured aorta.
